About us

creating baskets

Thibault’s project, Vannerie Pour Tous, wants to bring basketmaking back to life. Thibault makes baskets at the local markets, so that people can see the technique; he teaches basketmaking at local schools and in his workshop. For Thibault the act of making baskets is an act against consumption and the use and spread of plastic.

Celtic baskets

Thibault Poupard ( artisan vannier) learned how to make baskets at the age of 15 in Villaines-les-Rochers. He left the apprenticeship early to travel and explore the world. After years of life on the road, making baskets, he settled in Montbrun-Bocage where he cultivates his willow fields.

The idea is: to create a useful and durable product that we can pass on to the next generations; to create  something that we can repair and use year after year; to create something that we can produce with our local resources without generating further waste since willow is biodegradable and to teach young generations to continue this tradition.

Recently Vannerie Pour Tous expanded as Madalina Mihalache ( art therapist and educator) joined the project as Thibault’s partner and apprentice. Madalina helps with the whole process of the willow culture, creative ideas and the “invisible things” like this website.
